September Favourites 2013

So for once I seem to be doing this, honestly I've no idea why but there are a few things that I've been loving this month that I want to share with you guys!
My first two picks this month are OPI's Goldeneye nail polish. It's super sparkly and it dries in a couple of layers to look like a crazy sparkly foil on your nails, I'm currently sporting this on my toenails, but around Christmas time you guys'll start to see this more on my finger nails.
I seem to be really into sparkles this month because the second polish is a recent purchase but definitely a new favourite, it's Revlon's Nail Art Moon Candy polish in Moon Dust, it's so lush! The black polish dried opaque in one coat, fans of black polish will know that is RARE. When the glitter polish is applied you do have to manoeuvre the particles around a little, but it's definitely one of the better glitter chunk formulas that I've used. The glitter dries a greenish/teal on the nail, so it's perfect for Halloween. I feel like I have Katie McGrath's perfect Morgana nails! (Review coming soon...once I get the printing ink off my hands...sigh...art)
I'm a HUGE candle person, and Yankee Candles are my faves. I decided to take advantage of a sail at Haskins and bought this little jar of Mandarin Cranberry for £6.45 rather than £8.45! I'm glad I picked this up, but will probably use this up before the Christmas season because I'm burning it so much. This is such a pretty, fruity yet subtle scent for the holidays.
You guys just saw me haul some Lush, but this is something I bought last year and am still just as in love with it as I was back then, it's Twilight shower gel. Unfortunately I think that they have discontinued this Lush-ious (<- see what I did there?) shower gel. However the bath bomb is still on sale and smells just as good! It's a sweet lavender, so not that yucky flowery scent but manageable, sweet and perfect for night time...also...it's sparkly. (I think I must be a magpie or something!)
I got both pairs of these earrings from Claire's a couple of weeks back and LOVE them, I'm really into quirky jewellery at the moment. On the left are black bats, these are not in their Halloween collection, and they have little goggly eyes attached. To the right are some plastic dangly lightbulb earrings, I thought these'd look good with a Doc. Brown inspired updo for College.
So obviously I haven't arranged this post by categories...I've really been enjoying a warm, spiced eye look so far this season. My favourites to do this with are MAC's Blanc Type, Ricepaper, Woodwinked and Mystery. I like combining shimmers with really matte eyeshadows. The contrast looks wicked!
I will do some looks with these eventually, but my Romwe leggings arrived on Friday!!! The ones on the left look like metal, with creepy metal red electric insides exposed through a slash that curves around one leg. I call these my Wolverine x Terminator leggings. The right pair are my Vampire Castle leggings, they are white with grey clouds at the top, a castle/cathedral in black print and black bats flying around the belfry and on to the opposite leg. I love how these leggings feel, I hate normal leggings, the cotton-y kind, and these are silky and smooth and stretchy, they are so perfect! I will definitely be purchasing more!

I hope you guys enjoyed the post, and please link your monthly favourites blogs down below in the comments!

Lush Haul #1

This week I went to return some online purchases to H&M, unfortunately I was unaware of the fact that if you buy a product online you have to return it via mail, but you can exchange it in-store for store credit. Basically this means that if you want to return in-store H&M still gets your money, which pisses me off with them a little, especially as I'd driven 45 minutes to specifically return the products. I'm going to mail them out tomorrow... pissed...yeah!
* Rant over *
On to the Lush Haul...
So I didn't buy a LOT, (when you compare it to some people out here on the interweb) but I bought what I really wanted to try out. I've bought things from Lush before, but that was around this time last year, and I will DEFINITELY be checking out their Christmas collection this year (you might even see some goodies from that in my Christmas giveaway...!)
Also, this is very picture heavy because I wanted you guys to be able to see the packaging, the containers and the ingredients if they are provided on the packaging. I will be doing reviews separately.
BIG shampoo - £11.50
This is the BIG shampoo, I've heard a lot of good things about this and the idea of scrubbing salt into my scalp (as gross as it sounds) seems to really intrigue me. Elle Fowler particularly seems to like this shampoo, and I really like how big her hair always is. My hair is quite voluminous anyway, but I've run out of my Herbal Essences volumising shampoo so I thought, heck why not invest in something more natural. Also, the salt flakes will help to stimulate my scalp and promote hair growth! Yay! I like the salty smell on my hair, I'll always spritz a little sea salt spray on my hair (favourite is VO5 and Mark Hill) to give it a slight salty smell...I just realised how weird that is.
Floating Island - £4.15
I figured something out whilst looking at the HUGE pile of Floating Islands, they aren't all the same size! So obviously since they are all the same price, I found the biggest one and bought that...makes sense right? That's definitely something to bare in mind when you are buying bubble bars/bath melts in Lush, the cost isn't worked out by weight like the soaps, so find the biggest one girl! I bought this because I keep having a fantasy of having one of those milk-type baths like Cleopatra, but the idea of bathing in milk creeps me out a little...plus this smells a LOT better! Some of the Floating Islands are pure white, and some are the oatmeal-y colour like mine, the scent is slightly vanillery, it's sweet and clean.
(Also the date on that is when I bought it, not the use-by)
Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon - £3.25
This was something I went in not expecting to buy, I'd seen someone haul one of these Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroons on YouTube and sort of passed it by...DON'T! When I went in the shop I saw that they had three kinds, a pink which was rose, a green which was 'summer'/grassy and this orange one. I immediately eliminated the pink and green, I hate the scent of rose and it's autumn. So I picked this one up and it blew my mind! It smells so yummy this is definitely my favourite purchase, there is definitely a lot of shea butter and coconut oil in it because the bag is slightly stained with oil...I can tell it will be LUXURIOUS in the tub! It smells chocolatey, fruity and warm...delish!
Sultana of Soap - £3.47 - £34/Kg
I seem to have a really good talent for finding pieces of soap in Lush that are around 100g, seriously! I'm definitely a fan of Lush's Rock Star soap (you know the bright smelly pink one?) but I wanted something a little more sophisticated this time. I checked out Figs and Leaves but wasn't a fan, Porridge just smelt bad to me and then I saw this one snuggled right down in the corner...it's blissful! Sultana of Soap is sweet but not overpowering, creamy and clean. It is definitely a new favourite, it's very soft and melty so I'm glad that I already have a Lush tin at home. I'll probably cut this into three or four pieces. It is fruity and creamy and kinda does seem like a really good scent for this time of year!

I hope you guys liked my little Lush haul, I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the products and reviewing them for y'all. I'm also a little busy right now doing FDA work and I'm actually working on a pretty big project right now...so exciting!
I'm planning a LOT of Christmas stuff for you guys at the moment, I was considering doing some Halloween YouTube videos, but I don't know if I'll have the time...so come Christmas, BEWARE!

The First Time Tag!

Whoop 50th post! It seems like time has flown by!
I was tagged by my good friend Emma to take the First Time Tag, I really enjoyed doing this tag, it seems that my first times have been both good and some are unmemorable. Check out Emma's tag first before reading mine!

1. First Best Friend?
Honestly I don't think I've ever truly had one singular best friend, but I do have two or three friends that I am extremely close to, friends that are like sisters. So I guess that they are my best friends because we have been friends for a long time, however I don't want to reveal them on here...just in case. Sorry.

2. First Kiss?
I've no idea to be honest, wow I'm already really successful with this tag eh? I've never had what I'd consider a 'real' kiss...

3. First Concert?
I'm ashamed to say that it was seeing the X Factor tour. Fortunately it was Olly Murs' X Factor tour so I think that justifies it a bit more...But I'm really looking forward to going to my first ever ROCK concert this year...ahhaha! Nickelback!

4. First Celebrity Crush?
Okay, this I'm proud of, my first celebrity crush was Johnny Depp. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean way back in year 5 (8-9 ish years ago) and instantly loved Johnny Depp. I then started watching a whole load of Johnny Depp films. Whilst I still do love Johnny Depp's films and his general hilarity, I have to say Tom Cruise is still my favourite.

5. First Word?
No idea.

6. First Pet?
I didn't have a pet of my own for quite a while, my parents had two cats when I was born but I don't feel like they were mine. I got fish in year 3, but in year 6 we got two kittens and I got my own pet. Her name is Lillypees, (or Lilly for short) we bought her from the RSPCA, and she's a beautiful little tuxedo cat. Lillypees came as a strange (self-created) abbreviation of Lily Pad, it's taken a long time for me to explain to every vet/cat hotel etc. that she has two L's in the middle of her name, not one. Oh the kitten exasperation. The other kitten was my Mum's and her name is Cleo, she's a dark fluffy short haired tabby mix.
It's the first time I've ever really bonded with an animal.

7. First job?
*Cough* Never had one *Cough* please employ me *Cough*

8. First Phone?
My first phone was a Nokia, I'm not sure about the model, but it was awesome. It had lights on the side that flashed when the phone rang or whenever I got a text. My second phone was by far one of my favourites, it was a Motorola Pebl in green. It rocked.

9. First Tweet?
No idea.

10. First make-up?
I'm very proud of this one too. My first makeup was a MAC kohl eyeliner in Smolder. My Mum bought it for me when I wanted to start wearing makeup, she wanted to get me something that I couldn't wreck my eyes with because she knew MAC was a good brand. I think that's what foreshadowed my love of MAC products...thanks Mum!!!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this tag as much as I did doing it, and I hope y'all take it upon yourselves to do this as well...I'm tagging my friend Alice, and I TAG YOU!

Seche Vite Top Coat Review

The Seche Vite top coat is a cult favourite with nail bloggers here in our little community...but I haven't had such a fabby time with the top coat.
It does admittedly make your nails quite shiny, but I wouldn't say that it was any shinier than other top coats that I've used in the past like Nails Inc Kensington Caviar or Sally Hansen.
The strange thing is that the polish has this weird effect around the edges if you don't paint it all over the original nail polish beneath it...
I also don't find that it helps preserve my polish, I've got a lot of tip wear after only 2 days of wearing the top coat.
Right now I'm in Seche Vite limbo, not sure whether I like it or not, ho hum, I'll try pushing it to the edges of my nails, but I've never had this weird problem before with any other top coats, has anyone else?
I'll carry on using it until I've used it all up, but I'm not 100% convinced.

This or That? - Tag

Make-up
Blush or Bronzer?
Bronzer, simply because I suffer from a little heat-realted rosacea, which means that if I'm not blushing a little by the time I go out, you can guarantee that I will be by the time I get home!
Lipgloss or Lipstick?
Lipstick! Ruby Woo is my ULTIMATE at the moment, and I can buy and wear lipstick like nobody's business. I can guarantee that if I'm not wearing lippy I'll be wearing either a tinted or flavoured balm (hello Chapstick) particularly at this time of year!
Liner or Mascara?
I'd have to say mascara at the moment, as much as I LOVE liner (and you know I do) my Maybelline the Rocket mascara is my current favourite makeup creature.
Foundation or Concealer?
Concealer because I rarely ever use foundation at all, and if I do, it's me using foundation as concealer. I rarely use actual concealer anyway.
Neutral Eyeshadow or Colour?
Dark neutral shadow, I like the mixture of creams, browns and blacks over colours on my eyes, but at the same time I do love doing a little Kat Von D and doing one brightly coloured eye and one a smokey neutral.
Pressed or Loose Eyeshadow?
Pressed. Because it's what I use everyday, but most of my coloured shadows are loose, particularly my Glamour Doll Eyes and Dark Heart Designs.

Nails
O.P.I or China Glaze?
CHINA GLAZE! I do love OPI but when it comes to my favourites it's definitely China Glaze all the way, my favourite polish of all time is Riveting from the Hunger Games collection. My favourite neutral is also from China Glaze - Innocence. However I do like OPI's nail care polishes.
Long or short nails?
I'm in the process of trying to grow them long at the moment so have been trying to take real good care of them, I've never had super long nails but I would like to try it out. At the moment I'd say that they are in-between and I'm okay with that. So in-between.
Acrylic or Natural?
I really want to get acrylics and will probably have them done some point this year by the nail tech students at my college. But for now I'm au natural.
Brights or Darks?
Darks, especially at this time of the year. My favourite manicure is China Glaze's Smoke and Ashes on the thumb, index and middle finger with Ruby Pumps on the ring and pinky fingers. But Riveting is my all-season exception.
Flower or No Flower?
Does this mean a floral pattern? If yes then no. I rarely ever take a lot of time to do my nails, occasionally (summer/spring) I'll go for a floral pattern if I'm in the mood, but at the moment I'm not.

Body
Perfume or Body Splash?
Perfume, I LOVE smelling strong and musky. Body splashes don't seem to stay long enough on me.
Lotion or Body butter?
Neither, I hate moisturising my body at the moment...literal cringe for me because I already have 'baby skin' which is basically (in as least gross way to describe as possible) quite smooth and 'rubbery' therefore it's rarely dry.
Body Wash or Soap?
Wash because my favourite is Twilight from Lush. But I did buy some exquisite musk soap in Sweden that I LOVE.
Lush or other bath companys?
If I can afford it at the time...LUSH. I love Lush beyond words...although I'm convinced that they've stopped stocking Twilight. Good that I decided to put away the 100g bottle and fork out £8 for the bigger bottle when I last bought it, the bottle's lingering at the back of my products cupboard just waiting for some cold winter nights...but until then I'll be going through my HUGE block of rockstar soap.

Fasion
Jeans or Sweat Pants?
Jeans to go out (cinema, with friends, college) but sweat pants for everything else simply because mine aren't fleecy like most others, they are very nice and sculpted and VERY flattering!
Long Sleeve or Short Sleeve?
Long sleeve because I like to push the sleeves up my forearms...like a man...yay for masculinity?!?!?
Dresses or Skirts?
Dresses, I prefer them as they are only one thing that you have to be concerned about, they are simple.
Stripes or Plaid?
Neither, but probably a plaid shirt if anything.
Flip Flops or Sandals?
Flip flops, I'm a lazy minx what can I say?
Scarves or Hats?
Hats...simply because my favourite hat is my Grey Wolf SpiritHood called Jacob. It's basically a hat, scarf and gloves all in one anyway.
Studs or Dangly Earrings?
Studs, I'd rather someone buy me a really nice pair of stud earrings than a pair of dangly earrings that I won't wear for ages. I tend to leave a pair of studs in for a week or so before switching them out for a different pair. But I keep my pirate hoops in my second piercings in nearly all the time  because they are silver.
Necklaces or Bracelets?
Necklaces because they keep out of the way, and because my watch is so big and bright (Michael Kors rose gold) I rarely feel like I need to wear bracelets. I would wear them on my other wrist but since I transfer my watch from my right wrist to my left to wright it would be a hassle.
Heels or Flats?
Heels.
Cowboy Boots or Riding Boots?
Cowboy boots...but I need to get some new ones, the ones I have right now are a size 4 and were bought back when I was in year 5 (8 years people!) I'm a size 5 now and really can't fit my feet in them. I prefer rugged, worn out boots which is why I don't suit riding boots so much.
Jackets or Hoodies?
Jackets (but really coats) out and about, hoodies at home and slouching around doing errands...same idea as jeans or sweat pants.
Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe?
Neither, I'm a River Island/Dorothy Perkins/New Look/Topshop kinda girl.
Saks 5th or Nordstrom?
When I went into Saks off fifth avenue in Florida I FELL IN LOVE (<- please feel the INTENSITY of that) with a pair of jeans. They were grey and totally rocker chique, they even had the wrap-around knee bits for powersliding on a stage...unfortunately they were $100 in the sale. I can't tell you the HEART-CRUSHING DISAPPOINTMENT I felt. So yes...Saks fifth avenue.

Hair
Curly or Straight?
Curly, because my hair is wavy/curly and looks like crap when it's super straight.
Bun or Ponytail?
High pony tail or a messy bun...probably high ponytail as it's my go-to when chucking my hair up.
Bobby Pins or Butterfly Clips?
I've recently re-found little black butterfly clips, and they keep my long thick hair in place so much easier than bobby pins, which would just slide out because my hair's just like that I guess.
Hair Spray or Gel?
Hair Spray!!!!!!
Long or Short?
Long, I have had my hair in a short bob before, and I'm done with that now.
Light or Dark?
Dark simply because that's my natural colour and if I were to go light I'd have to go SUPER light and I don't have the time/patience/will to deal with all the messes that could potentially kill my hair.
Side Sweep or Full Bangs?
I don't have either, it's kinda parted almost central-ish now and I always brush it away form my face with my hand. But I did enjoy having a full fringe when I did have it.
Up or Down?
DOWN! I've been forced to wear it up for five years, so it's down time.

Random
Rain or Shine?
Rain, particularly when you are inside and it is thundering and lightening. I seem to be one of the only people that likes that kind of weather, also if the rain is frozen...to be snow...that would also be okay with me.
Summer or Winter?
Winter! Christmas time!
Fall or Spring?
Autumn! Halloween time!
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Chocolate in ice-cream form when alone, but vanilla if biscuits are sprinkled on top.
East Coast or West Coast?
South East...particularly Florida. Orlando. Florida.

I hope y'all enjoyed reading this tag as much as I did writing it, I'm tagging my friend Emma to take this on, and YOU as well! Feel free to leave a link back to the tag on your blog in the comments!

Delicious Vegetable Bake!

So it seems like I've been away for a while, which I have. Quite apparently starting my foundation art college seems to be more stressful than I expected! But ho hum, I have Wednesdays off so this is when I'll probably be catching up on a lot of my blogging.
Today I have a wonderful recipe to share with y'all that I made last week as an experiment and it turned out to be mighty fine!
Ingredients
2 medium potatoes
2 courgettes
2 medium onions
100ml vegetable stock
3 medium tomatoes
a handful of baby tomatoes
parmesan or grana padano cheese

Method - Oven on 200˚C/Gas mark 6
Chop the potatoes into several 1cm (ish) slices and then boil them in a pan of water until they become a little tender. Make sure they are not falling apart otherwise the later steps will be more difficult. Once tender, drain the potatoes and pop to one side.
Chop up the rest of the vegetables (and fruits...tomatoes...eh!) including the onions (I just forgot to take a picture of them), into similar 1cm (ish) slices. Chop the baby tomatoes in half or into 3 small slices.
Layer up the vegetables in an oven proof dish. I like to put some of the baby tomatoes on top because it looks nice.
Mix up and pour the vegetable stock over the top of the vegetables, and then grate some parmesan or grana padano cheese across the top. You can season the bake at this point if you want to, sea salt seems to add a little something when added to the top of the bake. Pop it in the oven for 25-35 minutes and...
VOILA!
If you don't like roasted vegetables, you will like this, if you do like roasted veg, you'll like this. If you like your veg soft and "mushy" leave it in for a little longer and test it with a knife or fork before taking it out of the oven, or if you like your veg a little crisper take it out when you feel it is cooked. This dish requires a little instinct cooking.
I love how the onions go nice and crispy on top, and the tomato juice drips through the veg giving it all a tangy, sweet taste.
If you don't like tomatoes, don't add them, just add an extra 100-200ml of stock to the dish. These vegetables can easily be replaced with other veg, like carrots or leeks <- yum!
You can have this as a main by itself or cook a chicken breast to have with it, I did that and it was YUMMY!!!!
This is part of 'The Aria Project' as I want to be eating a lot healthier. You will be able to find things like this, as well as fashion etc. all under the 'Aria Project' tab at the top of the page.
Keep healthy!

Summer Fun Nail Art

I created these cute Summer Fun nails before I left for my holiday.
I used two coats of OPI Alpine Snow nail polish as a base and then assorted bright pastel colours to create the designs using a variety of plates from the 'Cheeky Summer Collection' of metal plates and the 'Gals Princess Set' of plates. These designs last a LONG time, and I've started to not use a top coat because all of mine seem to peel or chip, but with no top coat they seem to wear longer.
Hope you like it. My favourite plate was definitely the one with sparrows and letters, plates like these are a FABULOUS investment!
